The Gunners and City are keen on acquiring Sergi Roberto’s services, as per recent reports.

Sergi Roberto

, who is a versatile player and can feature at full-back or in midfield, will run out of contract with

next summer.

The Spain international has not yet agreed to pen a new contract with the Blaugrana and may leave the club when his deal is expired.

From January 1, he will be allowed to talk with other clubs and is able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a non-La Liga club.

According to reports from

, the 29-year-old is ready to take up a new challenge elsewhere as he has spent all his career at Barcelona.

Negotiations over a new contract were stalled notwithstanding the fact that he agreed to take a pay cut for the club’s financial difficulties.

Manchester City

are interested in getting his signature and bring him to the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta are both fans of the Spanish player, who featured in more than 300 games for the Catalans.

During the summer transfer window, the Gunners signed with Thomas Partey and Albert Sambi Lokonga, but they are on the lookout for another midfielder next summer. Guardiola admires the versatile player as well since he was the one who gave Roberto his debut at Barca and the City boss is also looking for a successor for Fernandinho. The Brazilian is likely to leave the club when the season ends.

The two Premier League sides are the only ones in the English top-flight to have shown an interest in Roberto, but other clubs may join in the competition for his services.
