Bayern Munich have confirmed Julian Nagelsman will miss his side’s Champions League clash with Benfica due to an illness.
Nagelsmann
has had a fantastic start to life on the
Bayern Munichbench since moving from
RB Leipzigin the summer.
However, he will not be able to be in the dugout due to a flu-like infection.
According to previous reports,
Nagelsmann
became ill at the team hotel in Lisbon and chose to remain behind when the rest of the Bayern squad went for the game as a precautionary measure.
"Unfortunately, Julian Nagelsmann cannot sit on the bench today due to a flu-like infection,"
Bayern explained on the club's official Twitter account.
"He is represented by his co-trainers, Dino Toppmoller and Xaver Zembrod. Have a good recovery Julian!"
Assistant coaches
Dino Toppmoeller
and
Xaver Zembrod
would take over coaching duties in Nagelsmann's absence, Bayern added.
Bayern are currently at the top of Group E, having picked up a perfect six points from two games so far with eight goals scored and zero conceded.
