Newcastle will soon become a football superpower - Klopp

The German coach predicts that Newcastle will also join the ranks of the world's football superpowers.

Liverpool

boss Jurgen Klopp says Newcastle will become a superpower in the presence of the Saudi owner.

Ownership of Newcastle United was transferred to the Saudi Public Investment Fund last week for around 5 305 million. This transfer was followed by a lot of noise and attracted the attention of many media and famous figures in the world of football.

But despite many pros and cons, Newcastle now see one of the richest owners at the helm of their club and it is predicted that there will be many brilliant signing for the team in the near future.

They are now, along with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, part of a state-owned club, and such a position seems to have a major impact on football in the coming decades.

The German told reporters:

"What will it mean for football? A few months ago, we had a massive issue in the football world with 12 clubs trying to build a Super League.

"It didn't happen but this is kind of creating a 'super team' if you want. It is pretty much the same. Guaranteed spot in the Champions League. In a few years' time, not immediately. With how financial fair play is used nowadays where nobody knows exactly whether it is still existing or not.

"Newcastle fans will love it of course but of course for us, it just means there is a new superpower in Newcastle. I can't avoid that.

"Money cannot buy everything but over time they have enough money to make a few wrong decisions to then make the right decisions and then they will be where they want to be."
