Flick hails Germany attitude after securing World Cup spot

Germany manager Hansi Flick has hailed his side’s mentality after they beat North Macedonia 4-0 to become the first country to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

Chelsea

striker

Kai Havertz

opened the scoring five minutes into the second half, and then their other Chelsea player,

Timo Werner

, doubled his side’s lead for them to get over their 2-1 defeat against

North Macedonia

in March.

Werner

grabbed his brace before

Jamal Musiala

scored the fourth goal for Hansi Flick’s side in the 83rd minute of the game, converting Karim Adeyemi’s assist.

Speaking after the game, the former

Bayern Munich

manager was delighted with his side’s performance.

"We now have five wins from five this season,"

Flick

told

RTL

post-match.

"The result was perfect.

"We wanted to qualify as quickly as possible. You have to compliment the team on their attitude.

"Of course the first half was a bit wild, but we can be happy that we won and qualified. We were very consistent after the first goal, so we can be satisfied."

Flick also heaped praise on Timo Werner as he looks ahead to Qatar in 2022.

"We now have time to develop and improve until November 2022,"

he continued.

"I'm looking forward to the task. Timo Werner's second goal was the best today.

"He didn't have it easy. He had a few chances in the game and scored two great goals."
