Mbappe asked to depart PSG, but hasn’t turned down many extension bids

The France international has finally spoken about his uncertain future at PSG.

Kylian Mbappe

has revealed that he informed

Paris Saint-Germain

of his decision to depart in July amid links with

Real Madrid

.

Speculations were raised surrounding the Frenchman’s future over the summer as Real Madrid were keen on acquiring him, having made many offers for the talisman’s services.

Los Blancos’ last offer was around €220 million, but the Ligue 1 side rejected, notwithstanding stalling on penning a new contract at PSG.

According to PSG sporting director Leonardo, the 22-year-old asked the club to leave after the window closed. The director also believes the La Liga giants’ tactics in competing for the World Cup are underhand.

Mbappe has now admitted himself that he wants to leave, but he has denied rumors of rejecting to sign new terms with PSG.

The France international told

RMC Sport

:

"People said I turned down six or seven extension offers, that I don't want to talk to Leonardo anymore, that's absolutely not true.

"I asked to leave, because from the moment I did not want to extend, I wanted the club to have a transfer fee to be able to sign a quality replacement.

"It is a club which has given me a lot, I have always been happy, the four years that I spent here, and I still am. I announced it early enough that the club can react.

"I wanted everyone to come out of this stronger, that we leave hand in hand, to make a good deal, and I respected that. I said, 'if you don't don't want me to leave, I will stay'."

In January, Mbappe will be able to talk with potential suitors and Los Blancos are the favorites to sign him on a free transfer.

Those exit rumors were further fueled when Karim Benzema and Toni Kross publicly welcomed the prospect of Mbappe at Santiago Bernabeu, but the Ligue 1 side are hoping to persuade him to stay.

Leonardo talked about Mbappe’s condition last month as well, telling Canal Plus:

"I don't see Mbappe leaving at the end of this season. Nobody is thinking about the future of Paris Saint-Germain without Kylian."
