Reyna and Haaland not ready to return to action for Dortmund

The United States international will return to actions after the international break, with the Norway star also recovering from an injury.

Marco Rose

revealed that

Giovanni Reyna

and

Erling Haaland

are not in his plans at the moment, but the

Borussia Dortmund

coach is hoping they will be available after the international break.

Reyna has been out of action after sustaining a hamstring injury while representing his country in September.

However, he will not rush his return for the clash against Augsburg on Saturday, with Rose wishing for the 18-year-old to be back for the battle against Mainz on October 16.

When quizzed to provide an update on Reyna’s fitness, Rose said:

“We hope to get Gio Reyna fit for Mainz and will also play a test match during the break.

“In addition, we naturally hope to be able to welcome all national team players back to Dortmund in good health.”

While waiting for the American midfielder to come back, Dortmund are also keen on having Haaland as soon as possible.

The Norway international, who met the target 11 times in eight games this season, has been sidelined during his side’s 1-0 loss at the hands of Borussia Monchengladbach and their 1-0 Champions League victory over Sporting due to a thigh injury.

The BVB boss added on Haaland: “

He will stay with us for the time being and not travel to the Norwegian national team.”

The duo will not appear in the international fixtures. Jude Bellingham was not called up or the latest England squad and Rose is delighted to see the prospect having the rest he needs.

Jude Bellingham always wants to play, but it is a good decision by the England coach not to select him,”

Rose said.

“The last weeks and months have been intense. We have to take care of the boys, the decision is very smart.”
