FA to extend Southgate's contract in November

Southgate will soon enter into negotiations to extend his contract.

England

manager Gareth Southgate will enter into negotiations to extend his contract after the World Cup qualifiers end in November.

Southgate's current contract runs until December next year and the end of the World Cup, and the Football Association intends to extend the contract until 2024 and the end of the Euro. England advanced to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and then reached the final of the competition at Euro 2020.

With the good results that Southgate has achieved during this period, the English Football Association has been persuaded to extend the contract. The final World Cup qualifier for England against San Marino will take place on November 15.

Southgate spoke about the impact of his contract extension on the team's players. He said:

"I wouldn't think they could care less, frankly! They're not bothered who the manager is at club or country.

"One comes, one goes. The next one, they get on with it. So, no, it's not a distraction in any way, shape or form.

"I've got 14 months. If you can get through 14 weeks as a manager you have done well, so it really isn't an issue.

"I'm enjoying working with the team and I would imagine we won't even discuss that until after the autumn now."
