Shomurodov: Mourinho is a great psychologist

Roma have started the new season with great form, winning all four of their matches under Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager joined Roma from Tottenham after being dismissed by the Premier League side earlier this year.

“Mourinho spoke to my agent and then with me.

“I couldn’t believe it was closing so quickly. There’s no pressure working with him. As a team, we all work for the common goal.

“The first meeting was exciting, now we are like a teacher and his student. He’s a great psychologist, it’s interesting to work with him.”

Shomurodov scored for Uzbekistan in their 2-1 defeat against Sweden on Sunday. The 26-year-old, who is expected to compete with

over a starting place in Roma’s lineup, believes it is possible for him to play alongside the former Chelsea forward.

“All the players want to play, but Roma are a great team,” he said. “I try to give my best, both when I enter from the bench and when I start.

“I continue to work and can also play together with Abraham. I think Mourinho will try us together later.”

After the international break, Roma will continue their Serie A campaign with a match against Sassuolo on September 12.
