Max Kruse proposed to his girlfriend after Germany’s Olympics victory

Union Berlin’s Max Kruse may not have scored in Germany’s 3-2 victory over Saudi Arabia, but he had all the right to celebrate.

Max Kruse

made the

Tokyo Olympics

game on Sunday a day to remember.

Germany vanquished Saudi Arabia 3-2 in the Olympics to keep their hopes alive in the tournament and after the victory, the Union Berlin star proposed to his girlfriend live on TV. It was confirmed that she said YES to taking his hand in marriage.

During their first clash of the Olympics, Germany were defeated 4-2 at the hands of Brazil. Today, however,

Nadiem Amiri

and

Ragnar Ache

helped their side take the lead twice only for

Sami Al-Najei

to level the game each time.

Felix Uduokhai

was the one that sealed his side’s victory 15 minutes before the game was finished.

After the battle, Kruse asked his girlfriend to marry him on TV, taking off his jersey to show his T-shirt that displayed a message, got on one knee and proposed.

I actually wanted to wait until I scored a goal – but who knows if I can do it,”

Kruse joked on Sportschau.

The 33-year-old is one of the overage players to be in the tournament with the Germany squad.
