The Gunners’ USA tour canceled due to the coronavirus cases

Arsenal’s trip to USA has been canceled because there have been coronavirus cases in their squad.

Mikel Arteta’s

side was going to the USA to participate in Florida Cup to prepare for the new season, but their tour has been canceled because there have been coronavirus cases in their team. They will play their first Premier League match at Brentford on August 13.

The

Gunners

were going to fly to the US on Wednesday to face Everton, Inter Milan, and Colombian side Millonarios in the Florida Cup, but their preparation for the season was interrupted by the coronavirus cases.

They were going to face Inter Milan on July 25, and after that, they were potentially heading to their clash against the winner of Everton’s game against Millionarios.

They had started their pre-season with two matches in Scotland against Hibernian and Rangers, and they were defeated in the first match and ended the second one in a 2-2draw.

Their latest activity in the transfer market has been signing Anderlecht’s midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga who is expected to have an important role in Arteta’s squad in the Premier League as Anderlecht’s sporting director Peter Verbeke says that he will become a leader at Arsenal.

Speaking to Sky Sports News chief reporter Bryan Swanson, Verbeke said:

"Sambi is of course a very good player. He's one of the top talents coming from our academy. He can play as a defensive midfield player, he can play as a box-to-box player and, especially the last two seasons at the club, he has developed really well.

"He's someone who is good on the ball, his technical ability in tight spaces is really good. Good short passing, good long passing. He's always been a late developer so it's only in the last season that his physical development really came into place."
