Atletico stand firm over Trippier while Man Utd is ready to sign him

Manchester United is keen on luring in Kieran Trippier, so Atletico Madrid will have to struggle to keep him this summer.

The Red Devils have been widely connected with a summer transfer for the England international, but Atletico are determined to get hold of the player who helped them win

La Liga

last season.

Although it has been claimed in England that the move is highly likely,

Diario AS

reports that Atleti will not facilitate any prospective trade.

Trippier is considered an "essential element" of Diego Simeone's side, and only a hefty bid or the player himself indicating a wish to go might persuade Atleti to sell.

Man Utd is believed to have proposed €23.5 million for Trippier so far, but it appears that offer will not be enough.

Trippier's deal at the Wanda Metropolitano has two years left on it, and Atleti's plan is for him to finish it and improve on the outstanding form he displayed last season to assist Simeone's side win a trophy.

The England international is now on holiday following his involvement in

Euro 2020

, and any transfer discussions are anticipated to last until August.
