Alexander-Arnold: I’ll be ready for the pre-season

The Liverpool defender provides an update on his fitness after being ruled out of the Euros due to injury.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

was initially named in Gareth Southgate’s provisional squad list for Euro 2020. However, the Liverpool defender sustained an injury in

England

’s friendly match against Austria and was removed from the Three Lions’ 26-man list for the tournament. The Liverpool defender says he has come closer to full fitness ahead of the next season.

“Every day’s a new step, every day’s getting better, getting fitter and I think going into pre-season we’ll be good,”

Alexander-Arnold told

BBC Sport

.

“Obviously I’ve had a few weeks of rest and then I’ll be hitting the season and trying to push on from there.”

Asked about his feelings over England’s Euro 2020 campaign, Alexander-Arnold responded:

"It's disappointing for me not to be there.

"At the end of the day, it still puts a smile on my face seeing the lads go far, the nation getting behind them - the supporters everywhere have been amazing. To know all the lads and a do few weeks with them, they're going to do us proud."

England doesn’t seem to be affected by the absence of Alexander-Arnold as they are yet to concede a goal in the tournament. Being one step away from claiming their first major title since 1966, the Three Lions will face

Denmark

in their semi-final tie on Wednesday.
