Mignolet to miss the remainder of Euro 2020 due to injury

The goalkeeper has withdrawn from the Belgium squad ahead of their quarter-final clash against Italy.

Belgium

has been hardly hit by injuries in their Euro 2020 campaign. The Red Devils’ preparation for the remainder of the tournament was already rocked by the injuries of Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne. Now, the Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has to deal with the injury of his side’s reserve goalkeeper

Simon Mignolet

ahead of their crucial battle against

Italy

in the quarter-finals.

Mignolet has not featured in the tournament as Thibaut Courtois remained Belgium’s number one goalkeeper throughout their journey to the quarter-finals. Having sustained a knee injury, the Club Brugge goalkeeper has withdrawn from Belgium’s squad and won’t be available for the remainder of the tournament.

Thomas Kaminski

will replace Martinez for the rest of the tournament. The Blackburn goalkeeper is yet to play his senior debut for Belgium.
