Ex-England coach Eriksson: Kane has to wake up and arrive at the Euros

Harry Kane can win Euro 2020 for England, as per ex England coach Sven Goran-Eriksson, but he must "wake up" firstly; who cannot grasp why the Tottenham forward has had such a quiet beginning in the competition.

Kane has yet to score at the

Euro 2020

, having gone goalless in all three of the Three Lions group-stage matches, including last week's 1-0 win against the Czech Republic.

Notwithstanding his troubles,

Gareth Southgate

is expected to continue with the 27-year-old in Tuesday's crucial last-16 knockout match against Germany at Wembley, and Eriksson is confident that he can finally ignite and lead the Three Lions to success.

The former England manager told

"Harry Kane has to wake up and arrive at the European Championships now.

"Everyone knows what he can do, but for some reason, he hasn't been successful so far in this tournament. I think it will come; he can win the Euros for England."

Eriksson also stated that

Raheem Sterling

should remain in Southgate's starting XI before recommending

Jack Grealish

as a match-winning alternative for the current England manager.

"Southgate has so many attacking options, but for me Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling must play from the start," added the Swede.

"Then the most important thing is executing the right system, and picking the players accordingly. Do you play two up front or two wingers? Do you go with two or three at the back?

"I don't know if he's going to start the game, but Jack Grealish is the game-changer. He's fantastic. But there are so many other options. It's good to have these options, but at the same time, you need balance – especially for the game against Germany."

Kane played his international debut in 2015 and has since cemented himself as a star striker figure in England's team, as well as embarking on captaincy duties.

Spurs attacker Harry Kane has 59 caps and 34 goals to his name, including six at the

2018 World Cup

in Russia, where he won the

Golden Boot

after aiding England to reach the semi-finals.
