Spain’s first Euro 2020 victory was enough to get them to qualified for the next round of Euro 2020. After two draws in their first two games in the Euro 2020 against Sweden and Poland, a 5-0 victory over Slovakia secured them Group E’s second place.

A Martin Dubravka's own goal gave

La Roja

the lead before Aymeric Laporte doubled it. Goals from Pablo Sarabia, Ferran Torres, and another own goal from Juraj Kucka gave

the Spaniards a comfortable victory

over a side that finished over Poland in Group E’s standing.

“How can I not be happy?”

 Luis Enrique

said his post-match conference as he fulfilled his promise to “uncork the cava” and deliver the performance the fans were waiting for.

“The fans have enjoyed it and this win was very good. We have a strong staff and the atmosphere is very good; the group is prepared to overcome difficulties. We didn’t give up today and the cava was uncorked.”

On Spain’s man of the match

 against Slovakia,

Sergio Busquets

, the Spain boss added: “He’s a player very misunderstood by many people, because he’s been around for many years and we’re tired of seeing him, but he’s a unique player and a guarantee.”

Spain

will face

Croatia

in the competition’s round of 16 on

Monday

, Jun 28

at Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium.
