Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has rejoined the Belgium coaching staff ahead of this summer’s European Championship.
Since he had resigned asMontreal Impact
coach last February,
had not found a position on the edges of the field before this Sunday. He will again be in the staff of Belgium alongside Roberto Martínez for this Euro.
The 43-year-old served as the second assistant to manager
during Belgium’s run to the semi-finals at the 2018 World Cup.
News of Henry’s return was confirmed with a brief statement onTwitter
, which read
: "Unfinished business. We welcome back Thierry Henry in the staff for Euro 2020."
The former France international was due to be part of the BBC’s punditry team for this summer’s tournament.
But the broadcaster announced he will no longer be involved.
“It is with much sadness that I can no longer be with all my friends and the wonderful team at the BBC during the European Championships this summer,”
said Henry in a BBC statement.
“When I was asked to rejoin the Belgium National team staff, it was an opportunity that was impossible to turn down.
