Nagelsmann insists coach departure has nothing to do with him

Wed 26 May 2021 | 11:50

New Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann denies influence on Greland's departure.

Earlier this month, it was officially announced that Hermann Gerland would leave his job as an assistant coach at Bayern Munich after 25 years.

It was rumored that Julian Nagelsmann, the new coach of Bayern Munich, was the cause of Gerland's departure, but the 33-year-old boss denied it.

The fact that Hermann doesn't want to stay has nothing to do with me. In part, that was completely misinterpreted,"

Nagelsmann told Sport Bild.

"I told the club that I would like to take two assistant coaches and an analyst with me. But I never said that I didn't have room for a certain staff member or that someone wasn't wanted."
