The hunt for a replacement for Jose Mourinho continues; Tottenham Hotspur and Roberto Martinez are keeping talks this week.
After this summer's European Championships, the 47-year-old Spaniard, who has led Belgium to the top of FIFA's world rankings, has told friends that he plans to return to club management.
Other candidates on Tottenham's shortlist, according to reports, include Brighton manager
and ex RB Leipzig manager
Martinez is a fan of Arsenal's Mikel Arteta and was linked to the Emirates' move until Mikel Arteta was appointed in December 2019.
Since Mourinho's departure in April, Ryan Mason has been at the helm of Tottenham as an interim basis, with Spurs finishing seventh and edging Arsenal on the final day to qualify for UEFA's upcoming
Europa Conference League
Mourinho's dismissal had little effect on Tottenham's summer plans, with the club's recruitment committee - led by chairman Daniel Levy and chief scout Steve Hitchen - clear on which areas of the field need improvement.
Also, Harry Kane's intention to leave the club has changed things, with Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea both interested in signing the England captain.
The Lilywhites were looking for a replacement striker for Kane, but with Carlos Vinicius set to return to Benfica after failing to impress as a loanee, they were forced to look for a new first-choice frontman.
At this time, it is unknown who their goals are, but the club has had a long-standing interest in Danny Ings, whose future at Southampton is uncertain with just a year remaining on his deal. Last season, Spurs had a look at Ollie Watkins, but he went to Aston Villa, while Victor Osimhen had been tracked for a long time but ended up joining Napoli.
