The Gunners loanee has suffered a fractured metatarsal and won’t be able to play again in the current season.

Matteo Guendouzi

was injured in the 39th minute of

Hertha Berlin

’s clash against

Freiburg

on Thursday. The 22-year-old was replaced by

Sami Khedira

as his side won the battle with a 3-0 result. Having suffered a metatarsal injury, Guendouzi won't be able to play again in the current season.

"Scans on Friday morning confirmed the fears that Mattéo Guendouzi has suffered a fractured metatarsal,"

the club said in a statement.

"The 22-year-old won’t play again this season for Hertha BSC.

"The midfielder got injured during Thursday’s home win over SC Freiburg, and although he tried to play on, had to come off in the 39th minute."

Having joined the club in October, the midfielder has featured in 24 matches for Hertha across all competitions. He has scored two goals and provided three assists in his appearances for the German club. After failing to convince

Mikel Arteta

to give him a first-team role at Arsenal, the Frenchman enjoyed a form revival at his new club. Hertha was initially convinced to sign Guendouzi on a permanent deal, but the new injury might change the situation for the young midfielder.
