Overmars responds to Van de Beek rumors and expects Onana to leave

Ajax director of football Marc Overmars has ruled out the possible return of Donny van de Beek and expects Andre Onana to leave the Eredivisie Champions at the end of the season.

Donny van de Beek

has struggled to break into the first team under

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

and a potential return to his former club,


, has been mooted recently, but

Marc Overmars

has told Van de Beek to fight for his place at United rather than seek a return to Amsterdam.

"I think Donny should just fight, stay next year and try to claim a starting place. You shouldn’t leave so quickly."

Overmars told 



Ajax wanted to extend the deal of the club's goalkeeper Andre Onana, who is currently suspended, but talks were not successful.

Overmars confirmed he expects Onana to leave Amsterdam this summer.

"We have not stopped the negotiations for nothing. I think it is likely that he will leave in the summer."
