Sun 25 April 2021 | 12:56

Bayern goalkeeper comments on the untimely defeat against Mainz.

Bayern Munich

faced

Mainz

yesterday in a Bundesliga clash, in which the Bavarians could secure their ninth consecutive league title, however, Flick’s men were out of form against the 05ers and eventually left the pitch with a 2-1 loss.

Bayern failed to perform well in last night's match and seemed unable to create chances in the opponent’s box. On the other hand, many individual mistakes were made by the Bayern stars, the strangest of which was made by the team’s captain,

Manuel Neuer

, where he paved the way for

Jonathan Burkardt

to score an easy one for his side.

In a post-match interview with

Sky Germany

, Neuer elaborated on his mistake, insisting it was a ‘flutter ball’.

"I saw the ball when he was behind David. It was a flutter ball. I tried to have a stable hand, but the ball landed just wide," Neuer said.

"I was unlucky with the situation."

The German also believes they made lots of mistakes in the game and they got what they deserved.

He added:

"What happened in the first half was too little of us. That way you can't go into the game and win.

"We didn't create enough opportunities and were punished for our mistakes. Body language wasn't enough in the first half. This defeat hits us hard."
