Rummenigge: ‘Super League won’t be enough to solve financial problems’

Tue 20 April 2021 | 19:26

Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes clubs will not be able to solve their financial problems by joining the European Super League.

Rummenigge

made it clear that Bundesliga champions  will not be joining the breakaway Super League of 12 clubs with six from England, as well as three each from Italy and Spain.

“I heard rumors they have financial problems, the potential income seems enormous, but it won’t be enough to solve financial problems in the long run. You can’t keep cashing in to compensate for the expenses,"

the former Germany international said

.

“We are out of the Super League because we don’t want to take part in it. We are happy to play the Bundesliga. It’s our bread and butter, as the English say.

“We are happy to be part of the Champions League, and e don’t forget the responsibility towards our fans, who are generally against such reforms. We feel the responsibility towards football in general.”
