The Manchester City manager will continue with his original plan of not playing shot-stopper Ederson in the domestic cup competition.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola

said that

Zack Steffen

, the USMNT goalkeeper, will start the clash against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

First-choice goalkeeper

will not feature for the Blues in their domestic cup competition.

When Guardiola talked about the selection, Steffen was included:

"He's going to play in the League Cup final for sure.

"He made a good save, brilliant with his feet. The goal, one save, and that's all.

"We had more time but unfortunately we could not be more clear in the final third with the final pass.

"We were there until the end. They made good counterattacks. They controlled at the start of the second half but no more than that."

The United States international joined City in 2019 and was then sent out on a loan spell to Fortuna Dusseldorf. When he came back to England in 2020, he knew he would fall down the pecking order behind Ederson.

The 26-year-old has featured in 11 games for his side.
