Minamino focused on the present despite the doubt about future
Liverpool’s Japanese star has talked about his future with the Reds saying that he is not sure about the next season.
Minamino
understands the tough competition in Anfield with so many high-quality players in the team but says that he doesn’t have a problem with the challenge, although he insists that he doesn’t want to overthink his future and wants to focus on his performance and wait to see what opportunities will come up to him.
Following his struggles for a spot in the starting lineup in
Liverpool, he moved to
Southamptonon loan, and he will be back in the summer, but his long-term plans are yet to be known.
“I’m a footballer so I don’t know where I’ll be playing in six months’ time, but I want to be playing at a high level.”
He has also talked about the problems he has faced competing with Liverpool’s stars for a spot in the starting lineup, saying that he knew about the challenge from the beginning.
“It was very difficult to get a chance in that team but that was always the challenge for me from the beginning, so I wasn’t in a negative mindset at all, even in training.
“It was just about trying to play in matches, get into the starting lineup, and figuring out what I can do to achieve those goals.”
Minamino has scored two goals for Southampton and is happy with his loan move, but we have to wait and see what will happen to the Japan international in the future.
