Germany suffered a heavy defeat in a sensitive match last night.
coach Joachim Low has claimed that it is not yet a good time for Thomas Müller and Mats Hummels to return after a shocking 2-1 defeat to Northern Macedonia.
Last night, Germany hosted Northern Macedonia in Duisburg and initially fell behind their opponent with a goal by Goran Pandev. Ilkay Gundogan went on to tie the game, but Eljif Elmas's last-minute goal gave Macedonia a historic victory.
This was Germany's first defeat in a World Cup qualifier since September 2001. Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness has advised Joachim Low to bring Thomas Müller and Hummels back to the German national team. Lowe stressed that now is not the right time to look into the matter.
"Hummels is a player with strong aerial ability and someone who has a lot of experience,"
"He can definitely give this team something.
"Muller also definitely belongs in the squad. He's always good for goals and can help any team in the world in certain situations."
Low added on the great opportunity that Timo Werner lost:
"He has to score that, no question about it. He doesn't hit the ball properly, otherwise it's a goal. Timo blames himself the most. That was a bad moment in a period in which we were on top in the game."
