Jamie Carragher does not expect top-four spot for Liverpool

Tue 16 March 2021 | 11:27

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher feels the Reds cannot qualify for the Champions League this season but Sahin insists Klopp can still turn things around.

Liverpool

ended their run of six league defeats in seven matches with a much-needed 1-0 win at

Wolves

on Monday, which helped the Reds climb to sixth, two points behind

West Ham

in fifth and five off

Chelsea

in fourth.

However, their victory over Wolves has done little to convince

Carragher

that Liverpool can make the top four.

Carragher has told

Sky Sports

: “It's been a freak [season] and the other teams [they've lost too].

“At this moment, I still believe Liverpool will miss out on the top four.

“However, they need to make teams like Leicester and Chelsea nervous and see what they can do.

“With four or five games to go, they need to be in a position where they can jump on any mistakes the teams above them make.”

Former

Borussia Dortmund

player

Nuri Sahin

believes that

Jurgen Klopp

is able to turn things around.

Sahin told

Sport1

: "I am absolutely convinced that Jurgen can do it - I say that as a Liverpool fan and as his friend. The Reds will be in the top four in the league, and they're still going in the Champions League."
