Augsburg director backs Heiko Herrlich to stay on as their head coach

Reports that Augsburg are thinking about firing Heiko Herrlich as head coach are 'absolute nonsense,' as per overseeing manager Stefan Reuter.

Augsburg's director of managing

Stefan Reuter

has made light of the hypothesis over

Heiko Herrlich

's future as its coach.

Reports have stated Augsburg are thinking about leaving Herrlich in the wake of losing five of their last six Bundesliga fixtures, yet Reuter demands he has full confidence in the 49-year-old manager.

"It's absolute nonsense that we are thinking about parting ways. Heiko is a great coach with clear ideas," Reuter told Sport Bild.

"We are convinced of his qualities as a coach and person throughout the club." Reuter added.

Herrlich was designated Augsburg mentor in March 2020. His agreement lapses in 2022.
