Atletico captain Koke undaunted by their deadlock against Celta Vigo

Tue 09 February 2021 | 11:14

Atletico Madrid skipper Koke wouldn't freeze after his side's 2-2 stalemate at home to Celta Vigo in La Liga.

Simeone's men are as yet top of the table, with an eight-point hole over title rivals Barcelona; however, Facundo Ferreyra's late strike finishes their eight matches dominating run.

Notwithstanding, in spite of the outcome, 29-year-old Koke trusts his comrades are as yet in a solid situation to win the domestic title since 2014.

"If we want to fight for

La Liga

, we have to concede few goals," he said in the post-match interview.

"We have to learn from those mistakes so that the next game it doesn't happen.

"We have a very good squad, with great players but we must be prepared, as we need everyone.

"We think the day to day, we are not going to change in that dynamic, as it has led us t where we are.

"We are going to continue to do the same and to think about the Granada game."

Los Rojiblancos has the chance to put more distance between themselves and their rivals before the finish of February, with two extra games at hand.

Following their excursion to Granada this end of the week, Atleti plays against Levante in midweek, to carry them level on games with La Liga's remainder, before their

Champions League

return against Chelsea.
