The American defender has not had much opportunity to play for Bayern.
defender Chris Richards has joined Hoffenheim on loan and will play for the club for the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old American defender did not get enough playing time at Bayern. Despite a close rivalry within the Reds squad, he was not given much opportunity. Bayern Munich decided to send him to Hoffenheim till the end of the season to have more opportunities to play in Bundesliga. Moreover, his progress does not stop, and he finds better conditions.
Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern's boardd member told club' official website:
“Chris is a great talent. He was a top performer in central defence for our reserves in the third division and has gained experience with the first team, even in the Champions League.
“Together we decided Chris will use the months in Hoffenheim for the next stage of his development. We're sure TSG will get a lot from him.”
Richards added on taking on a new challenge: “I'm looking forward to taking the next steps in my development in Hoffenheim.
“It's important I pick up more match practice in the Bundesliga now. I have big goals and I'd like to progress at FC Bayern.”
Richard joined Bayern in 2018 from FC Dallas. He has made 38 appearances for Bayern's second team and four games in the Bundesliga, three in the Champions League and one in the German Super Cup.
