had imagined the start of the year somewhat differently.
It was a bad day for almost all of the players,
” says Fritz following the defeat to Union Berlin at his press conference on Wednesday.
“There’s no time to dwell on the match, though, with another tough task coming up this weekend when Werder travel to Leverkusen. We want to react well, both in training and in the match at the weekend.”
Fritz wants his side to be ready for their next clash with Bayer Leverkusen.
“One thing is clear - if you don’t show hunger out on the pitch in Leverkusen, things are going to be difficult. Leverkusen have great quality in their play and unbelievable speed in their transitions. We have to be ready for that.”
He also talked about possible January transfers.
“We always said that we wouldn’t rule anything out, but as always it is a question of what is financially possible. We will only be active if it fits both economically and in terms of football. We have our wishlist and are constantly on the look-out, but we can’t currently say what will happen in the next three weeks.”
