This might be our year - Supercup winner Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho says Borussia Dortmund's 2019 DFL Supercup win could be only the start, while Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski was left scrutinizing his side's self-belief.

Borussia Dortmund

Jadon Sancho (Dortmund winger): "We came into this game realizing that it would have been challenging. They won the double a year ago, so we attempted to come to a meaningful conclusion. We've been buckling down in pre-season, and today is confirmation of that. So I'm only cheerful for the team, and for myself, particularly getting an assist and a goal. I'm only glad to get off to a decent begin. This may be our year!"

Lucien Favre (Dortmund mentor): "It was an intense game. Bayern had 65 percent ownership, that is excessive. Yet, we shielded well and were extremely conservative. We played our cards well on the counter-attack, however, we lost the ball time and again. We need to improve that."

Manuel Akanji (Dortmund defender): "We put in a decent presentation. On the off chance that we continue taking a shot at ourselves like this, I'm idealistic for the season."

Marco Reus (Dortmund skipper): "You need to place everything into it, you need to play with enthusiasm and buckle down. We were powerful going ahead today. We didn't necessitate that numerous chances, in spite of the fact that we had a couple. We need to express gratitude toward Marwin [Hitz] - he was phenomenal between the posts today. The game is anything but a decent pointer of how the season will go as the two teams are still in pre-season, yet it was a decent game to watch with chances at the two closures. We had the right to win."

Michael Zorc (Dortmund sporting chief): "Bayern had the option to play through our midfield too effectively, we needed fighting there. Else, we safeguarded great and went ahead rapidly. I imagine that, by and large, we're really all around prepared."

Sebastian Kehl (Dortmund's leader of the licensed player division): "We're cheerful. We realized the game would have an extraordinary flavor. We'll cheerfully accept the trophy as it gives us force."

Bayern Munich

Manuel Neuer (Bayern captain): "I thought the first half was good, we could have scored. But through our own mistakes, such as for both goals we conceded, we let Dortmund get back into the game. If we had avoided such mistakes, there is a good chance we would have won the game. Overall, we’re still happy with how pre-season has gone."

Robert Lewandowski (Bayern striker): "After the first goal, we didn’t believe maybe 100 per cent that we could win this game. In the second half, we also had a few chances to score. So maybe we have to work on that still."

Niko Kovac (Bayern coach): "We lost the game, and naturally we’re sad about that. I think we played a decent game, not very good, but decent. We dominated the match, and made two mistakes that BVB exploited. We didn’t take our opportunities, and that’s why we lost. We’re in our fourth week of pre-season. That was the first game in which everyone played 90 minutes, you can’t expect any more than that. I’m not unhappy. It wasn’t a great game, but we simply had to take our chances and not play to BVB’s strengths: turning over possession and counter-attacks."

Joshua Kimmich (Bayern defender): "They deserved to win, even though they weren’t better than us. You saw two quite weak teams in the first half. In the second, we came out and immediately conceded a goal. Dortmund made a lot of mistakes. The problem was that we made even more mistakes and Dortmund cashed in on them."
