With a combination of young players and the influence of Zlatan, Milan could lead the league, but for a short time. Il Diavolo can reassert their strength now. Stay tuned for more updates on AC Milan 2021 summer transfer news.

Milan

started the Serie A challenge ambitiously and even became the winter champions. Subsequently, however, he left the championship to his longtime rival Inter. Many experts consider the lack of a suitable replacement for stars who are deprived or injured for various reasons to be a weakness of Pioli's team. In the current market, the management of Milan is facing the issue of contract extensions, and it remains to be seen how they will react to the separation of their stars.

Going into the Champions League paves the way for strengthening the Milan squad. Milan is one of the two teams claiming that they have not changed their coach.

Pioli

has another chance to surprise Milan fans. Let's see what is going on in the

AC Milan summer 2021 transfer window

Gianluigi Donnarumma

The Italy’s goalkeeper is leaving AC Milan for PSG as a free agent. His contract with the club has been expired this summer, and

Donnarumma

couldn’t reach on an agreement with the club.

PSG

have agreed to pay Donnarumma the €12 million (£10.3/$14.6m) yearly salary. Donnarumma was on €6m (£5.1m/$7.3m) a season at San Siro.

The 22 year old has been a fan of the Milanese club since he was a kid and he had been their first choice keeper since he was 16. However, one-club footballer is a concept of the past in football. Even Paolo Maldini, the AC Milan’s technical director stated that it is increasingly difficult to start a career in one place and finish it there, when he confirmed Donnarumma’s departure.

During his six seasons, Gianluigi Donnarumma played 215 league games with Milan squad. Milan qualified for the Champions League after years with Donnarumma as the Best Goalkeeper of the Season.

Mike Maignan

Mike Maignan

is the first sign-in in the

Milan 2021 transfer list

. AC Milan has signed the France goalkeeper from

Lille

club, only days after he helped the club win the french league title. Mike Maignan has signed a five year contract and will wear the number 16 jersey.

The 25 year old shot stopper is a product of PSG’s youth system, but he has never been of the club’s first team. In 2015, he signed a five year contract with Lille for €1 million, and in 2017 became their first choice keeper. The next year, he was named the Ligue 1's goalkeeper of the year and helped the team became champions of the domestic league in the past season.

The fee for Maignan, who had 12 months left on his contract in France, has not been disclosed, although it has been reported as being in the region of €15 million and Maignan will earn 3 million euros per season. Milan is back at Champions league after eight years of absence and could be in the same group with Lille. They will be among the lower ranked teams in the draw but Lille would be a top seeded as the France champions.

Fikayo Tomori

The 23 year old defender has joined AC Milan on a permanent deal from

Chelsea

. In the winter transfer window of the 2020-21 season, AC Milan got

Tomori

on a loan deal with an option to buy, and he appeared in 17 games, mostly as a replacement of

Alessio Romagnoli

, and 22 in all the competitions, scoring once against Juventus.

In one of the

Milan transfer news

from Earlier this month, there were rumors about Milan holding discussions to lower the €29.2 million fee for a four years long contract, which was agreed between the two clubs last winter, but Chelsea refused to lower the price.

Tomori is a graduate of Chelsea academy and was named upon the first team since 2016. But he only made 17 appearances in the premier league for Chelsea and 27 in total. He has been on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion, Derby County, and Hull City, all in the championship, as well as AC Milan in Serie A.

Hakan Calhanoglu

Hakan Calhanoglu joined the cross city rival

Inter Milan

, one a free transfer. According to the Italian transfer market expert Gianluca di Marzio at Inter, Çalhanoğlu will sign a €5 million/year ($5.9 million) deal, which includes another €1 million ($1.2 million) in performance bonuses.

Hakan Calhanoglu's contract with Milan expired. The 27 years old midfielder had an amazing season in Milan. Calhanoglu was one of the key players for Stefano Pioli in 2020-21. It is unlikely that a team like Milan would let their top assist provider go on free. Calhanoglu is Milan's top scorer in the Europa League. But Hakan and Milan could not agree on the extension and after Gianluigi Donnarumma, Rossoneri lost another key player freely.

The departure of Donnarumma was harsh, but about Hakan Calhanoglu, it was a little bit surprising. The worst thing is that he is the replacement for

Christian Eriksen

in Inter. Finding a player to replace Calhanoglu is not going to be easy. Hakan has played in 172 Serie A games for Milan over four years. During this period, he has managed to score 32 goals and delivered 48 assists.

Olivier Giroud

AC Milan has closed in on a €2 million (£1.7m) deal to sign

Olivier Giroud

from Chelsea. Giroud started only eight Premier League games for Chelsea last season following the arrival of

Timo Werner

from RB Leipzig. He didn’t get enough playtime under

Thomas Tuchel

, and he hopes that his move to Italy would do him well.

Chelsea managed to maximize 34 years old striker’s value by extending his deal.  Due to the departure of Mario Mandzukic and

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

's injuries, Milan needed a new goal expert. Mandzukic was far away from his good peak days and did not live up to expectations. Giroud has almost the same set of skills and characteristics and Mandzukic.

The French forward has a strong competitor in the national team named

Karim Benzema

. Giroud didn't receive enough playtime in Chelsea. Unlike Mandzukic, Giroud has the ambition to take the burden of scoring from Zlatan's shoulders. Milan fans hope that the curse number nine will not catch Giroud. He scored 17 goals in 75 Premier League caps for Chelsea.

Sandro Tonali

Milan has officially announced that

Sandro Tonali

's loan contract has been turned into a permanent. He has been on a loan from

Brescia

in the past season and played a lot for AC Milan. Tonali was considered one of the most brilliant Italian talent when he was Brescia player. He made his debut in Serie A at the age of 19 in a victory against Cagliari in 2019-20 Serie A.

All the big Serie A clubs kept an eye on Tonali and he received many offers. Both Milanese teams were eager to sign him and both Brescia and Tonali were negotiating with two Milan giants. Despite Inter was in advanced negotiations with the club, Milan was in a better position with Tonali himself. At last, he went to AC Milan on a €10 million loan for a season and Rossoneri had the option to buy.

Tonali played in 25 Serie A matches for Milan in 2020-21. The born in 2000 midfielder is usually compared with

Andrea Pirlo

, but in his debut season he was far away from the Italian legend. Rossoneri didn't lose his trust in Tonali, though, and making his contract permanent is the sign that Stefano Pioli counts on Tonali for 2021-22. The Rossoneri will pay €7m plus another €3m in bonuses.

Davide Calabria

One of the AC Milan players, which needed a contract renewal in the Milan 2021 transfer list, was Calabria. The AC Milan right back has renewed his contract with the Italian club until June 2025.

The 24 year old Italian footballer, who is a product of the AC Milan youth system, has extended his contract for four more years for €2 million net per season, plus bonuses.

Davide Calabria

has been at the club since he was 10 years old, and made his Serie A debut in May 2015. Since then has been part of the squad in 151 games, scoring five goals.

He has been the first choice right back over the past season and is now the longest tenured player in the current squad, while Manuel Locatelli,

Patrick Cutrone

, and Gianluigi Donnarumma all have left the club. His salary has practically doubled since his previous deal. The defender is also tipped to take up a leadership role. Calabria is a modern full back who sometimes goes to forward and helps in attacking moves.

Isco

AC Milan is approaching

Real Madrid

's

Isco

to be the replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu. The Rossoneri are in search of a player to fill Hakan Calhanoglu's void following his move to Inter. Also, Real Madrid would like to let Isco leave the club before his contract extends in 2022.

Isco joined Real Madrid in 2013 and since then has made 336 caps for Real in all the competitions. Unlike the first few seasons, his role in Real is fading and his playtime is declining.

Carlo Ancelotti

used him in 4-2-3-1 formation as an attacking midfielder. His dribbling skills and creative play making as well as are suitable for the number 10 role.

Isco can play as a winger, too. The Italian manager, in his second season in Madrid, added more versatility to Isco's playing style. He often was the pair of

Toni Kroos

in 4-4-2 formation. Despite the ability to play various roles, Isco is a backup plan for Zinedine Zidane. In the 2020-21 La Liga, the 29 years old had only one full time appearance. Milan has a good relationship with Real and it is not going to be hard to agree on Isco for both clubs. Convincing Isco might not be that easy, though. Other clubs like Sevilla are interested in Isco, although it’s not clear if they will be willing to spend the €20 million Real Madrid want to cash in for his transfer.

Brahim Diaz

AC Milan is satisfied with

Brahim Diaz

's performance and pushed really hard to extend his loan from Real Madrid. The Spanish midfielder capped in 39 matches in all the competitions for Milan. Diaz has scored four goals in Serie A, including the goal in a 3-0 victory over Juventus. The position Diaz usually plays is attacking midfielder or simply number 10, but he has the ability to play as a winger.

Due to the departure of Hakan Calhanoglu, Diaz can receive more playing time in Milan. The player's own wish to stay at San Siro is key in completing the deal, as Madrid still see plenty of potential in Diaz and are not interested in releasing him on a permanent basis. In the negotiation with Real, Paolo Maldini will expect new terms as Milan's technical director.

Two clubs have a history of excellent relationship and there is no major obstacle to this transfer. Maldini prefers a two-year contract and on the other side, Real Madrid will have a buyback clause in the new contract. Isco is another Real Madrid player that Milan is interested in. The transfer of Diaz wouldn't have an effect on Isco's negotiation.
