Analyzing Al Ahly’s Position in the Case of El-Shiby and El-Shahat

Prospects of resorting to civil litigation and health preparations for the trip to Tunisia

Dr. Saad Shelby, the executive director of Al Ahly Club, clarified the situation facing the Red Castle in the face of the incident that occurred between team player Mohamed El-Shiby, right back of Pyramids Club, and Hussein El-Shahat, Al Ahly player, after the match between the two teams in the Egyptian League on July 23, 2023.

Al Ahly filed an official complaint against El-Shiby, alleging “his violation of the rules of the International Football Federation (FIFA) by resorting to civil litigation due to the assault incident of El-Shahat on him”, despite the imposition of a suspension penalty on El-Shahat for two matches by the Competitions Committee.

Shelby confirmed during his interview in the program (The Goal) on the channel (On Time Sports 2) that Al Ahly is committed to dealing according to international regulations in all matters of football, confirming that amicable solutions cannot replace the implementation of laws.

He pointed out that the club president Mahmoud El-Khatib is facing some health problems such as back pain and a rise in temperature, but his health condition is gradually improving, and there are great hopes that he will recover enough to lead the mission on a trip to Tunisia to face Esperance in the first leg of the African Champions League final on May 18 of the coming year.

He confirmed that there are intensive efforts being made by the club to ensure the full attendance of Al Ahly fans in the second leg of the African Champions League final scheduled for May 25 of the coming year at Cairo Stadium.
