Real Madrid’s adventure: A penalty shootout epic decides its place in the semi-finals!

Details of the excitement and determination in Real Madrid’s dramatic match against Manchester City in the Champions League

Thanks to penalty kicks, Real Madrid secured a ticket to the semi-finals of the Champions League at the expense of the title holder Manchester City in the second leg of the quarter-finals, which took place today, Wednesday. The original match ended in a positive draw (1-1) after Real Madrid had opened the scoring in the twelfth minute through Rodrigo, before Kevin De Bruyne equalized in the 76th minute.

After the extra time ended in a draw, penalty kicks were called where the first leg match also ended in a draw (3-3), and Real Madrid succeeded in winning by a score of (4-3).

Manchester City started with intense pressure from the beginning of the match, which limited the ability of Real Madrid players to easily control the ball, amid attempts to build attacks from the middle instead of resorting to long balls. Despite this, Real Madrid managed to score the first goal when Vinicius made a ground pass, which Rodrigo received and shot twice to settle in the net.

Manchester City almost equalized the score a few minutes later, as Haaland rose for a skillful header, but the ball hit the crossbar. De Bruyne shot on the fly but the goalkeeper easily saved it.

Haaland returned to threaten again with a header, but the Real goalkeeper was able to save it easily. De Bruyne continued his attempts with a left-footed shot but it went over the crossbar.

Manchester City’s danger did not stop, as Haaland led a quick attack and Grealish shot the ball but it hit a defender and settled in the outer net.

In extra time, the teams made substitutions to renew energy, amid intense attempts to score the go-ahead goal but to no avail, as the match ended in a draw (1-1), for the two teams to resort to penalty kicks.
