Cazorla: "I didn’t come to Oviedo to earn money"

Santi Cazorla returned to his first club Oviedo on a one-year contract.

In August 2023, Santi Cazorla joined

Real Oviedo

on a one-year contract. He had started his football career with this team.

Cazorla said about signing a contract with Ovide that he did not come to this team for money.

“I didn’t come to Oviedo to earn money. If I could play for free I would, but because of LaLiga rules I have to earn a minimum wage."

he said.

“The club made me a fairly acceptable offer, but I rejected it. I didn’t come for money, I came out of excitement and to give everything. It’s my club and I want to help. That’s why I put in those conditions, they accepted it and helped me make it so it will help the academy and the club.”

Cazorla joined Villarreal after leaving Oviedo. He has also played for teams such as Malaga, Arsenal, and Al-Sadd.

He played 81 games for the Spain national team and scored 15 goals.
