Howe: "The challenge gets harder and more difficult"

As he prepares for the Champions League, Eddie Howe looks to make'smart' summer investments.

First, in 20 years,

Newcastle

has earned their place in the Champions League. With a draw against Leicester City, they sealed their place in the Champions League.

Eddie Howe, who had a very successful performance as the head coach of Newcastle after being appointed, talked about the summer transfer window.

“The challenge gets harder and more difficult because, now we’ve become a better team, there are fewer players who would make us better, so it’s going to be a big window for us.

He said.

“It won’t be huge numbers – I don’t think it can be. We don’t have the ability to spend the money that people will think we have, so we’re going to have to be smart.

“It will be a small group of players, but hopefully ones that can make the difference.”

Since Sir Bobby Robson, Eddie Howe has been the only manager of Newcastle to achieve Champions League football.  The last time Newcastle participated in the Champions League were in the 2002/03 season.
