The FA bans Fulham’s Mitrovic for eight games after pushing referee

Fulham suffered a 3-1 loss to Manchester United in a chaotic FA Cup match at Old Trafford. Mitrovic scored the game's opener in the 50th minute before being sent off for pushing Chris Kavanagh. The Serbian striker has been handed an eight-match ban by the FA.

After Mitrovic and Willian received red cards over controversies over his decision for a penalty, the Red Devils made a comeback with a brace from Bruno Fernandes and a goal from Marcel Sabitzer.

Although Aleksander Mitrovic apologized for his actions, the Football Association handed him a £75,000 fine in addition to a total of eight matches on Tuesday.

In a statement, the governing body said: "

Our current intention is to appeal both sanctions, however, we will await the written reasons before confirming our final position."

After being charged for throwing a water bottle at an assistant referee during their FA Cup loss to Manchester United, Fulham’s boss Marco Silva has been charged by the FA for his post-match comments for a total of £40,000 as well as a two-game touchline ban.
