Bayern's Musiala withdraws from Germany squad with hamstring injury

Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala has withdrawn from Germany's squad for the March international break.

Germany coach Hansi Flick confirmed on Monday that

Jamal Musiala

has withdrawn from the squad due to a hamstring strain. Flick also confirmed he would not call up a replacement for Musiala.

Musiala suffered an injury during

Bayern's

2-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

"We [had] all hoped that Jamal would be fit, because he has unique qualities,"

he said.

"That's why it's a shame for everyone that he won't be with us.

"We hope he is fit again as soon as possible and that he is back playing after the international matches.”

The 20-year-old Musiala, who made his debut for Germany in March 2021, has played in 20 matches for them. He was part of the squad for the Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.

It remains to be seen how long Musiala will be out of action. Bayern will face Bundesliga leaders Dortmund after the international break. They also have to play with Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Germany is the host nation for Euro 2024 and is not required to qualify for the tournament. Germany will face Peru in Mainz on Saturday in a friendly match. They also play with Belgium three days later.
