Moratti admits to Inter being in a 'crisis' and calls Lukaku slow!
Former Inter president Massimo Moratti gave a damning review of Lukaku's performances for the Nerazzurri and admitted that Inter are in crisis
After Inter Milan's narrow 1-0 win against Porto in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash last week, they suffered a demoralizing defeat to Spezia just a few days later. As a result, the mood is low in Lombardy ahead of the second leg against Porto, and there are concerns about Simone Inzaghi's future as the team's manager.
With Antonio Conte's time with Tottenham coming to a close, there are increasing questions about whether
Inter Milanwill turn to him as a potential replacement.
Speaking to Leggo, Moratti first weighed in on Inter’s difficult position following their defeat to Spezia.
“The team are going through a crisis. Hopefully the squad is strong and the coach good, but the results are not coming. These are difficulties we have already seen.
“An unfocused team that, after an important performance, fails to maintain the necessary organisation to win the game. I also saw a disorderly team. And I’m sorry, given the quality players. Some of whom are out of form.”
“Lukaku is in poor condition, he’s still very slow.”
he said
Finally, Moratti discussed the work of coach Inzaghi and what the Italian tactician need to do to resolve things in the Lombardy capital.
“A coach always has all the responsibilities, when he wins and when he loses. In this case he lost and so he has to suffer the criticisms of the press, the public and so on. The responsibilities are there of necessity, because it’s a crisis either athletic, or psychological, or tactical."
he added.
“It seems to me that Inzaghi is a coach who on the pitch lets the players free to show their talents. He still has to prove he knows how to keep the team focused with consistency.”
