Marco Rose hints at Gvardiol stay amidst Premier League interest
RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose thinks that goal hero Josko Gvardiol will stay at the German club in the next season as well
Marco Rose is almost sure that Josko Gvardiol will stay at
RB Leipzigin the upcoming season as well. The Croatian defender was the hero as he scored RB Leipizg’s equalizing goal against Manchester City in the Champions League.
"Josko Gvardiol will be an RB Leipzig player next season as well,"
he told TV 2 Sport after Leipzig's first-leg draw with City.
"I am the coach and I am asking for that. He is happy here. He said he wants to play in the Premier League, but he didn't say when."
Gvardiol scored a towering header in the 70th minute to bring the game level, which led to Rose jokingly saying that Gvardiol “should play basketball”. However, the former Dortmund boss was disappointed with their first-half showing.
"We should start to play and fight. It was a really difficult first half, 26 per cent possession isn't enough,"
Rose told BT Sport.
"We were too passive in every situation. They moved the ball and they moved us. We had no power."
RB Leipzig will visit the Etihad stadium on March 14 for their return fixture against
Man Cityin the Champions League.
