Brighton reject second Arsenal bid for Moises Caicedo
Arsenal’s second offer for Moises Caicedo has also been rejected by Brighton and Hove Albion.
According to the English press,
Brightonrejected Arsenal’s £70m bid for
Moises Caicedoon Sunday. The Gunners made a £60 million bid on Friday, which was rejected, before increasing their offer to £65 million plus £5 million in add-ons, but Brighton once again rejected it.
It is unclear whether
Arsenalwill increase their offer or they will wait until the summer to sign their target. Arsenal already has brought Leandro Trossard from Brighton in a deal worth £27m.
Reports suggest that Brighton does not want to sell the midfielder in January and their position will not change. Chelsea also is interested in Caicedo, but Brighton reportedly rejected their offer worth £55 million earlier this month.
The 21-year-old Caicedo said on Brighton's official website earlier this week that he was focused on his current club, but the Ecuadorian player published a statement on social media on Friday in which he said he wanted to leave the club.
Caicedo has been told to stay away from training until the window shuts on Tuesday night,, also being left out of the squad for the game against Liverpool on Sunday.
After a 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup, Brighton’s manager Roberto De Zerbi said his team is ready to go forward without Caicedo in the second part of the season.
He said:
“Caicedo is a very good guy. I can understand him, because when you are 21, and you receive a request from a big team playing in European competition, I can understand. I would like him to finish the season with us, but we’re ready to go forward without him. We need some players in some positions.”
