Gladbach sporting director vows not to sell Yann Sommer despite Bayern interest

Following Manuel Neuer’s bizarre injury, Bayern is in desperate need of a new goalkeeper but Gladbach aren’t willing to give them Sommer.

Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus is very adamant that

Yann Sommer

will not leave the club to join Bayern Munich, who apparently regard Sommer as their top choice to replace the injured Manuel Neuer.

Yesterday, it was reported that Bayern Munich are assessing their options for replacing the injured Manuel Neuer and that one of the names that kept popping up was Sommer but it seems Gladbach aren’t willing to sell the Swiss World Cup star at all.

"We will not be giving up Yann Sommer,"

Virkus said following

Borussia

's friendly against Oldenburg.

"That is what we told Bayern as well. It is planned that he will be used in the last two friendlies."

Virkus seems to be hitting back at Bayern Munich Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic who confirmed Bayern’s interest in Sommer. Although he later walked back some of his comments.

Bayern are really in a tight spot in regards to goalkeepers as they only have Sven Ulreich and 19-year-old Johannes Schenk as Neuer’s back up options since Alexander Nubel has somewhat refused to come back from his loan at Monaco.
