A part of Croatia's 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup, the Celtic right-back helped his nation to finish in third place with his impressive displays in Qatar. With Reece James' injury setback, Chelsea reportedly joined the race for signing the right-back.

Josip Juranovic

signed for Scottish Premiership side Celtic in 2021 from Legia Warsaw. He has scored 6 goals in 50 matches for Celtic and helped them win the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup last season.

Now after his outstanding performance in the 2022 World Cup,

Chelsea

joined a host of clubs pursuing the Croatian’s signature as

Sky Sports

reports. The news comes after Reece James was forced to be substituted in his injury return during Chelsea's 2-0 victory over Bournemouth.

The outlet earlier reported that the Croatian is

Barcelona

’s number one target for the right-back position and they are ready to sign him in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old Juranovic is under contract with Celtic until 2026.

Celtic

wanted to increase his wage before the World Cup but they failed to reach an agreement. Sky reports that Celtic plan to talk to him again in January but they also expect to receive offers for him from other clubs.
