Chelsea seal 2023 deal for RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku

Chelsea has completed the transfer of RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Fabrizio Romano claims that

Chelsea

has reached a full agreement with

Leipzig

 over the transfer of

Christopher Nkunku

and he will join the English club in summer of 2023.

Romano says the contract is signed and sealed and all documents are also signed between the three parties. Chelsea reportedly has agreed to pay £10m more than his £53m release clause to get the move done early.

Christopher Nkunku missed the 2022 World Cup for France after suffering a knee injury in training just days before the tournament.

The 25-year-old has scored 12 and assisted twice in just 15 Bundesliga appearances this season. Nkunku is a graduate of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy and made his debut for the club in 2015. He made 78 appearances for them and won three Ligue 1 titles. Nkunku joined Leipzig in 2019 and since then has scored 64 goals in 159 matches.

Nkunku won the 2021–22 Bundesliga Player of the Season award after scoring 20 times and assisting 13 goals in 34 league games. He scored 35 goals in all competitions last season.

Chelsea sold Timo Werner back to Leipzig in August and loaned Romelu Lukaku to Inter. They are also open to selling Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech. Chelsea has been linked with FK Molde's striker David Datro Fofana in recent days.
