Brazil 2–0 Serbia: Richarlison is Back with a bicycle brace

After Switzerland wining the opening match of Group G 1-0 over Cameroon, Brazil and Serbia kicked off the second game with one being among the favorites to win the tournament and the other a likely wildcard.

Earlier on Tuesday, Breel Embolo helped Switzerland start their World Cup campaign with a 1-0 win against Cameroon at Al Janoub Stadium. Being the only team to have taken part in every single edition of the World Cup,

Brazil

hoped to continue their 100 percent record against Serbia as they had won the two previous encounters.

Meanwhile,

Serbia

didn't want to go empty-handed as they have now qualified for four of the last five World Cups. Brazil dominated the first half but failed to provide an opener against Serbia's solid defensive line. The best chance of the first half was missed by Raphinha after a quick one-two with Paqueta.

Brazil dominated the early second half as the Serbians couldn't get past the Brazil's powerful halfbacks.

Richarlison

finally scored the opener for Brazil in the 62nd minute, two minutes after Sandro's shoot hit the post. The Tottenham striker completed his brace with a remarkable bicycle kick volley in the 73rd minute to pay off his manager's trust before being replaced by Gabriel Jesus. Serbia failed to threaten the opponent as Brazil secured an expected 2-0 victory in their Qatar 2022 opener, taking over Switzerland at top of the group table.
