De Jong is not thinking of leaving Barcelona in January

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong still wants to stay with the Catalan club and will turn down his offers when the transfer window reopens in January.

According to reports from Diario Sport,

Barcelona

is open to selling

De Jong

in January after the World Cup, but he still refuses to leave the club. Barcelona also is trying to reduce De Jong’s salary but the negotiations have not been successful.

Sport claims that Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea and also Bayern Munich are still interested in signing the 25-year-old midfielder but his desire is to stay and succeed at Barcelona and he will not listen to offers in January.

Barcelona wanted to sell De Jong last summer due to their financial situation. On the other side

Manchester United

was the most interested club in him due to Eric Ten Hag’s relationship with De Jong and after weeks of negotiations they even reached an agreement with Barcelona for €80 million, but eventually, De Jong refused to leave the club.

De Jong has played in 15 matches for Barcelona this season and scored one goal. He was on the bench in most of the games at the start of the season, but has returned to the starting XI during the last recent weeks. He joined Barcelona from Ajax in a deal worth €75 million. So far the Dutch midfielder has only won one Copa Del Ray in 2021.

Barcelona failed to qualify for the round of 16 in the Champions League, but interestingly they are only one point behind their rivals, Real Madrid, in La Liga.
