Sampaoli wants Ocampos to return to Sevilla this January

Managing to get only one start since joining Ajax on loan from Sevilla, the Argentine is likely to return to Sevilla this January as their manager, Sampaoli demands reinforcements in January.

Joining

Ajax

on loan for an initial fee of €4m and an option to buy around €16m,

Lucas Ocampos

has made 6 appearances for the Eredivisie giants, of which only one of them was as a starter.

According to

Mundo Deportivo

, after a meeting between

Sevilla

manager Jorge Sampaoli and sporting director Monchi, the Argentine's chance of return to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan has aroused as the Spanish club is short of attacking forces this season. In addition, Sampaoli has a habit of working with compatriots.

The Argentine joined Sevilla from

Marseille

in 2019. The Argentinian winger established a reputation as one of the most consistent players in La Liga and he has attracted interest from some of the top clubs in European football.

However, despite his stellar debut at the Sanchez-Pizjuan, his form dropped significantly as he joined Ajax on loan last summer. Whether Ajax would cut back on their loan investments or Sevilla is willing to pay Ajax any compensation is yet to be known.
