Jorginho waiting on Barcelona offer as Chelsea contract runs down

The Italy international is off contract at the end of the season and the negotiations with

have not been successful yet. Barcelona and Juventus reportedly are interested in the 30-year-old midfielder and even his agent met with Barcelona director, Mateu Alemany earlier this month at the Nou Camp.

The Spanish newspaper Sport now claims that

has asked Jorginho not to make any decision until he has received a concrete proposal from them. Mateu Alemany recently claimed that signing free players is Barcelona's priority in the coming years.

Jorginho’s agent previously suggested that he prefers to stay at Chelsea, but at the moment his future is uncertain. Jorginho can sign a pre-contract agreement from the beginning of 2023 and he wants to know his future by the end of January.

N'Golo Kante is also out of contract next summer but Chelsea is not likely to offer him an extension and prefers to keep Jorginho.

Jorginho was close to joining Manchester City in 2018 but in the end, he joined Chelsea in a deal worth £50m. He has scored 29 goals in 204 matches. Jorginho has won 4 major trophies with the London club including the Champions League in 2021, Europe League in 2019, UEFA Super Cup in 2021, and Club World Cup in 2021. He also won the Euro 2020 with Italy.
