Iniesta will return to Barcelona after retirement

Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta talked about the possibility of returning to Barcelona and coaching this team.

As a player, Iniesta won many honors, including two trebles with Barca, and is considered one of the best players in the history of the club. The tradition of returning former players to Barcelona is rooted in this club, and Pep Guardiola and Xavi are other examples. Iniesta currently plays for Japan's Visell Kobe and has confirmed that he will consider joining Barcelona and coaching after retirement.

“I will continue for another year here (in Japan) and then we will see. I would love to return to Barca, it is my home, but I still don’t know in what capacity: manager, sporting director or something like that. In any case, the first thing I have to do is train and, at the moment, I still see myself as a player.”

Barcelona lost against Inter in their last match in the Champions League and will host the Nerazzurri this week. By defeating Barcelona in 2010, Inter prevented Barca from winning another treble, and Iniesta was also one of the Blaugrana's stars at that time. Iniesta added:

“The incidents were clear, considering the game’s importance, of course, they affected the team,” Iniesta told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

“A win is crucial for Barcelona to keep qualification hopes alive. Inter have a great team, so it will be tough.

“I expect Barcelona to take the initiative, while Inter will sit deep, given that a draw would be a good result for them. Details decide the Champions League, but Barcelona have a chance to make a step forward.”

Asked about the two games that took place in 2010, Iniesta replied:

“The result of the first leg was very negative for Barcelona. Games against Inter are always thrilling; anything can happen,” continued Iniesta.

“I have bad memories because of the elimination and because I was injured. It was a double disappointment. The atmosphere was incredible in the second leg.”
