Manchester United's ten Hag named Premier League Manager of September

Despite a slow start to the season, the Dutchman led Man United to win both of their Premier League games in September, beating Leicester and Arsenal.

Former Ajax manager replaced interim boss Ralf Rangnick this summer after

Manchester United

's poorest Premier League season in club history. Despite losing their two opening matches of the season,

Erik ten Hag

's side pulled off a dramatic turnaround with victories over Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester City, and the league leaders Arsenal.

As a result, the Dutchman was awarded

Premier League Manager of the Month

for September in his second month in the Premier League. Ten Hag faced competition from the Spurs' boss Antonio Conte and Bournemouth's interim coach Gary O'Neil. Tottenham earned six points in September like United, while Bournemouth collected five.

The United boss is the first Dutch manager to win the prize since

Ronald Koeman

won it during his successful Southampton spell in 2016. This is also the first time a Man United manager won the prize since January 2019.

Marcus Rashford

also won the Premier League Player of the Month. The 24-year-old player met the back of the net four times in September, provided an assist for Jadon Sancho’s winner in their battle against Leicester City, before scoring two goals and setting up another one in their thumping 3-1 victory over Arsenal.
